We are seeking a Data Center Facility Manager to serve as a technical resource and leader within Amazon data centers. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The Data Center Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center, aiming for high reliability and minimum operating costs. This equipment supports mission-critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure and ensure work is performed to high quality with no impact to customers Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career Engage in improvement projects, coordinating with various support teams from conception to completion Coordinate daily with third-party vendors to ensure adherence to contracted SLAs Effectively manage the operations budget and expenditures Routinely operate as the after-hours on-call Data Center Facility Manager for regional data centers, including incident response, investigation, mitigation, and recovery Key Activities: A Day in the Life
Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians: prioritize tasks, coach, document, and train staff on best practices Monitor and control operations expenditures to ensure optimal resource allocation Lead improvement projects and collaborate with support teams Coordinate with third-party vendors and ensure SLAs are met Communicate complex technical information to diverse stakeholders Respond to out-of-hours emergency calls and act as escalation point for facilities-related issues Deliver operational excellence while fostering a diverse and inclusive team culture Perform physical tasks safely and lift/move objects as required; work in noisy environments with PPE as needed Support multiple locations/sites and provide on-site management for builders (no remote work) Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
High school or equivalent diploma 2+ years in a management position with 5 or more direct reports 2+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or mission-critical environment with knowledge of UPS, generators, HVAC, evaporators, and other critical infrastructure OR 7+ years of technical training/experience Preferred Qualifications
Advanced electrical or mechanical certifications (Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline) 3+ years in a management position with 5 or more direct reports 5+ years in a data center or mission-critical environment with emphasis on building and equipment operation Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in data centers (feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS, ATS, PDU, chillers, pumps, AHUs, CRAH units) Strong verbal/written communication and ability to prepare technical writing or business justifications Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
