The EdRedesign Lab at Harvard Graduate School of Education, founded in 2014, provides catalytic support to cradle-to-career place-based partnerships to drive systems-level change and open personalized pathways to well-being, educational attainment, civic engagement, and upward mobility. The team focuses on talent development, actionable research, the Institute for Success Planning, and the By All Means initiatives. The mission is to ensure the social, emotional, physical, and academic development and well-being of all children and youth, especially those affected by racism, poverty, and disinvestment. Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of robust data and evaluation systems for EdRedesign’s flagship community-facing programs and talent development initiatives (including the Institute for Success Planning Community of Practice, EdRedesign Fellowship for Cradle-to-Career Partnership Leaders, and By All Means Senior Fellows). Develop tools and materials to help local communities use data and lead an internal effort to identify the most useful metrics to track impact. Design comprehensive strategies for identifying and utilizing data and metrics as part of locally led cross-sector collaborations and Success Planning initiatives. Independently design data analyses, develop tools and dashboards, and create data visualizations to enable partner communities and place-based partnerships to use and track data and impact; identify technologies to streamline EdRedesign’s data and evaluation efforts. Build trusting relationships with senior leaders and data/evaluation staff within partner communities and organizations. Identify opportunities for collaboration with Harvard-based and national entities to support community-facing programming. Identify gaps in partner data and evaluation practices and opportunities for capacity-building and cross-sector efficiencies. Periodically present key findings and briefings on partner community impact to internal and external audiences as part of field and movement-building efforts. Contribute to EdRedesign funding proposals related to strengthening data, evaluation, and learning support to communities. Integration and Alignment
Work in close partnership with all EdRedesign departments to ensure effective integration and alignment on topics related to applied data, evaluation, and community learning. Collaborate with research and communications departments to develop external-facing publications about the organization’s signature programs. Partner with the research department and affiliates to position needs and opportunities for partnerships with practitioners in the field. Support EdRedesign’s Data and Evaluation Working Group and participate in meetings; build trusting relationships with Working Group members. Provide strategic support to research translation efforts engaging non-technical audiences; build relationships with research partners and affiliates. Contribute to sponsored papers, reports, and cases for external publication; contribute to funding proposals for signature initiatives and external engagements. Special Projects
Support the execution of special projects related to applied data innovations in collaboration with national and community partners. Working Conditions
This position works a combination of on-campus and remote work based on business needs and manager approval. The opportunity for 100% remote work is available. All remote work must be performed within a state in which Harvard is registered to do business. States include CA, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA. Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Master’s degree or equivalent A minimum of 8 years in related experience Experience in quantitative analysis Ability to travel as needed Cover letter required with resume as one document Additional Qualifications and Skills
Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills Experience in applied quantitative analysis, data and evaluation within social sector programs Experience communicating with non-technical audiences, practitioners, and policymakers Experience leading data and evaluation programming within cross-sector education and place-based initiatives Ability to analyze quantitative data and communicate complex information to various audiences Knowledge management, data visualization, and CRM systems familiarity Passion for using data to support social impact and education Professional representation of EdRedesign, HGSE, and Harvard University Willingness to travel for national events and funder meetings Ability to work with a team across projects and work streams; work independently to solve problems Experience with data sharing agreements and cross-sector collaboration Experience with state longitudinal data systems for research collaboration Experience briefing policymakers and high-profile audiences on data analyses Experience managing students, fellows, interns, and affiliates Adaptive leadership across diverse partners including nonprofits, philanthropies, and academic partners Ability to work across multiple projects and independently develop practical solutions Experience with mixed methods and qualitative research Additional Information
