Project Engineer – Mechanical Systems

to join their team in Rye, NY. This role will lead the oversight and coordination of mechanical pumping and process equipment, process piping, instrumentation, and related systems to ensure seamless integration with architectural and civil components, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. What You’ll Do as the Project Engineer – Mechanical Systems: Review and interpret architectural, civil, mechanical, and MEP plans, specifications, and construction documents; develop detailed mechanical installation plans that align with overall project goals. Coordinate with fabricators, equipment suppliers, and the civil/architectural teams to ensure design intent and project continuity. Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and MEP systems on site. Develop and track project schedules, budgets, and allocation of resources to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. Review technical submittals from equipment vendors to confirm compliance with specifications. Conduct regular site inspections to enforce quality control and safety standards. Provide technical guidance and resolve issues that arise during installation and commissioning. Prepare progress reports, technical documentation, and close-out reports. Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and relevant regulations. Assist with scoping, estimating, and justifying change orders when project requirements evolve. Must-Haves as the Project Engineer – Mechanical Systems: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering. 5–10 years of hands-on experience managing mechanical installations for construction projects. Prior experience with large process or water treatment-type projects (NYCDEP experience or similar strongly preferred). Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and MEP design documentation. Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills. Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving, and ability to coordinate across disciplines and stake-holders. Nice-to-Haves as the Project Engineer – Mechanical Systems: Familiarity with local NY and NY/NJ codes and water treatment regulations. Experience using project management software and tools (e.g. Primavera, MS Project, Procore). Experience managing change orders in large construction or infrastructure projects.
