Visit Orlando
Serves as the senior leader of the convention sales team as it relates to overseeing citywide strategic initiatives, team management operations, and business development logistics to attract and secure both national and international conventions, trade shows and other events to Orlando. Partners with key stakeholders across hospitality and citywide sectors to drive economic growth and community benefit, enhancing Orlando’s reputation as the premier meeting and convention destination.
Location
We operate on a hybrid work model, which requires employees to be in the Orlando office at least twice a week. Major Areas of Responsibility
Serves as leader/supervisor to National Account Directors and National Accounts Sr. Managers to develop and execute a comprehensive convention sales strategy ensuring the team is increasing bookings and market share for the Convention Center. Provides training and support for new team members, oversees the onboarding process, and leads the citywide team. Facilitates individual sales team 1:1’s, annual performance reviews, and recurring business review meetings. Actively leads citywide team meetings and monthly convention strategy meetings as assigned by the Chief Sales Officer and Vice President of Sales Drives business development strategy for the team by monitoring market trends, competitive cities, and emerging opportunities. Provides support to team members on telephone calls, personal sales calls, correspondence and formal bid presentations to promote Orlando as needed. Conducts appropriate follow-up to obtain business. Approves qualified potential new business that meets booking guidelines. Collaborates with members and clients to deliver compelling event solutions in a timely and professional manner, fulfill their needs, and retain loyalty to the destination. Acts as lead liaison between convention center, hotels and OCCC service members to meet the needs of the client. Oversees preparation and maintenance of housing packages for citywide conventions to ensure availability for the client. Corresponds with clients, members and Visit Orlando management to confirm transactions and advise of necessary changes in a timely manner. Provides support to team members during the creation and presentation of citywide proposals including customized bids as necessary. Responsible for all matters relating to industry groups and groups that need operational management rather than proactive sales. Attends and/or presents at trade shows, industry conferences, and Visit Orlando functions to promote the Orlando area as needed. Prepares and performs presentations to committees and boards for site selection as needed. Leverages the CRM system to analyze market trends, generate reports, and transform data into actionable insights. Maintains data integrity by ensuring team members consistently input all pertinent information on clients and leads in an accurate and timely manner. Ensures own work area is maintained in a safe and clean manner. Performs other accountabilities and projects as assigned. Supervision of Others
Lead and mentor the convention sales team, setting clear goals for performance and efficiency while providing a motivating and energetic atmosphere. Qualification Requirements
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; plus ten to fifteen years related experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
