Overview
The Area Sales Director- Business Travel is responsible for managing national and local transient sales efforts across a cluster of Marriott branded hotels. Your primary objective will be to proactively prospect/solicit, generate, and close business to positively impact hotel revenues. Responsibilities
Proactively drive top-line revenue for sales segments to include national and local transient bookings. Use property’s computerized sales management system to manage the hotel’s business, including (but not limited to) generating reports, blocking space, building accounts, and logging activities. Assist in the preparation of required reports in a timely manner. Participate in trade shows, community events, industry meetings and networking activities to promote the hotels and expand business opportunities. Participate in business review meetings, revenue calls and trainings. Excellent solicitation practices using the existing customer database as well as prospecting programs. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and lost accounts. Develop a complete knowledge of company sales policies and SOPs and ensure knowledge of and adherence to those policies. Develop a full working knowledge of the operations of the hotels, including Food and Beverage, Guest Services, and Reservations. Meet or exceed sales activity goals as assigned by the Area Director of Sales. Conduct professional, thorough site inspections of the hotels with clients, exhibiting key features and benefits of the properties. Daily prospecting for new business to maximize revenue. Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to all departments in the hotel to ensure a high quality of service to customers. Responsible for implementing and maintaining Strategic Action Plans for the development of the designated market segments Respond to Inquiries within stipulated timeframe, initiate and follow up on leads. Be knowledgeable of NYC, local area, and local competitive hotels and their marketing sales strategies. Stay current with trends and developments in the market. Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs. Provide coaching, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance team performance and capabilities. A minimum of two-four years of Hotel Sales experience in a managerial role is required. Marriott experience is required. General Requirements
A minimum of two-four years of Hotel Sales experience is required. Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner. Prior experience using Delphi, STS or similar databases preferred. Should be proficient in Property Management Systems. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests. Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner. Attend all hotel-required meetings and training. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming. Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions. Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary. Must be able to understand and evaluate complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives. Must be able to maintain the confidentiality of information.
