The Vice President of Finance is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of Housing Assistance Corporation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial processes. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role provides oversight of accounting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting, and grant/contract compliance. The VP of Finance leads the Finance team to deliver timely and accurate information, maintain strong internal controls, and support Housing Assistance’s mission by ensuring financial sustainability and transparency across its social service programs and housing development initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, and reconciliations. Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit regulations, and federal/state grant requirements. Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity. Supervise month-end and year-end close processes. Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis Partner with CFO to develop annual budgets and forecasts. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, internal reports, and funder/lender reporting. Provide analysis of variances, trends, and risks to support decision-making. Support CFO in preparing materials for Board Finance and Audit Committees. Grants & Contract Compliance Manage financial reporting requirements for government contracts, grants, and restricted funding. Ensure proper allocation of costs and compliance with funder regulations. Work with Program and Development teams on budget proposals and monitoring. Team Leadership & Development Directly supervise the Finance team, fostering professional growth and accountability. Establish and maintain SOPs for finance operations. Train staff on financial systems, policies, and compliance requirements. Systems & Process Improvement Oversee financial systems (Sage 100, Yardi, and integrations with HR/Payroll platforms). Streamline workflows to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting. Support implementation of new systems and upgrades. Support Company mission and culture. Required Qualifications, Education, And Experience Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA strongly preferred. Minimum 7–10 years of progressive financial management experience, including nonprofit or government-funded environments. Strong working knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit compliance, and audit preparation. Experience with multi-source funding (government grants, contracts, donations, real estate development). Hands on experience with SAGE; Yardi and HRIS integrations a plus. Proven leadership ability with experience supervising finance teams (5-10 people).
