Reporting to the Senior Manufacturing Director – Colorado Campus Site Leader, the Manufacturing Director will lead operations at our Boulder, CO facility, a key hub for Surgical Innovations (SI) within the Medical Surgical portfolio. We’re working a minimum of 4+ days a week onsite as part of our commitment to direct labor engagement, ensure operational excellence, fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This is an on-site leadership role in Boulder, CO. The Boulder facility is a cornerstone of Medtronic’s Surgical Innovations business, manufacturing more than 30 diverse products. These include advanced energy surgical devices, electrosurgical instruments & accessories, ablation products and components for minimally invasive procedures. The Manufacturing Director is responsible for all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People (SQDCP) performance at the Boulder site. This leader will deliver exceptional manufacturing execution, drive problem-solving and continuous improvement, and build an engaged, high-performing workforce. By leveraging the Medtronic Performance System (MPS) and fostering strong cross-functional collaboration, this role ensures that Boulder remains a world-class operation, meeting patient needs while advancing Medtronic’s mission. Responsibilities

Leadership & Execution: Deliver best-in-class manufacturing performance across safety, quality, cost, and delivery. Model accountability, urgency, and discipline in achieving business goals.

Problem-Solving Excellence: Lead root cause investigations, implement robust corrective actions, and drive a culture of structured problem-solving (DMAIC/Lean).

Talent & Workforce Development: Build and develop a strong leadership pipeline; mentor managers and engineers; champion direct labor engagement to improve morale, retention, and performance.

Operational Excellence: Implement lean manufacturing, GEMBA, and value stream mapping to reduce waste and drive continuous improvement.

Collaboration & Influence: Partner effectively across engineering, supply chain, quality, and other functions to ensure flawless product launches, stable operations, and aligned objectives.

Communication & Engagement: Build trust through transparent communication with employees at all levels. Inspire teams with clarity of purpose and alignment to Medtronic’s mission.

Strategic Operations Management: Oversee budgets, capacity planning, and resource allocation to support growth, business continuity, and innovation.

Culture & Inclusion: Foster an inclusive culture that respects diverse perspectives, empowers employees, and drives engagement on the shop floor.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Experienced Sr Manager / Director – with prior site leadership and/or transformation experience required.

Bachelor's degree required.

Minimum of 10 years of relevant progressive Manufacturing Management and Leadership experience within Medical Device or a Regulated Industry with 7+ years of Managerial experience, OR an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant progressive Manufacturing Management and Leadership experience within Medical Device or a Regulated Industry with 7+ years of Managerial experience.

Nice to Have

Degree in Engineering, Operations or Technical Sciences.

Medical Device Manufacturing experience within a cleanroom environment.

Lean / Six Sigma (DMAIC) Certification.

Proven results applying Lean Manufacturing to improve safety, quality, and cost.

Demonstrated business acumen, including P&L or cost center management.

Experience building and sustaining direct labor engagement programs.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Inclusive leaders build trust, develop talent, and hold teams accountable.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.

Experience leading large-scale change and drives continuous improvement.

Proven track record in talent development, coaching, and workforce engagement.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $165,600.00 - $248,400.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
