Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer DevOps – Network DevOps Engineer III to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. This position, based in Colorado Springs, CO, plays a vital role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders across strategic, regional, and operational levels. Relocation assistance is not provided for this position, and the role requires on-site work with no remote options. Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is the main component of the Missile Defense System. It is a critical operational system that helps the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels plan ballistic missile defense operations systematically, monitor the battle’s progress, and dynamically control designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and managing our CI/CD pipeline tools, including GitLab, Nexus, and Python. You will also handle configuration management, releases, and versioning of systems, and create automated pipelines to deploy new configurations into lab environments. Essential Functions:
Apply principles, theories, and concepts to develop innovative and comprehensive solutions for a wide range of complex problems Work under general supervision, with results reviewed afterward for adequacy in meeting objectives Support the C2BMC Program as a DevOps Engineer Manage GitLab, ensure proper documentation, and reporting Perform data management using existing program tools, including documentation, training, and reporting Assist with release management as needed Develop, deploy, and maintain a CI/CD pipeline for the NES ART Create, maintain, and present KPIs and other metrics related to the CI/CD pipeline and configuration management Create and manage a test pipeline across multiple labs Perform additional tasks as required by the program Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Network Engineering Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree Applicants must possess a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to be cleared at Top Secret A DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher is required to start Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs are required Effective communication and writing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products Experience with GitLab and GitLab concepts Detail-oriented with the ability to follow processes Proficient in Python Object-Oriented Programming Preferred Qualifications:
A current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application is highly preferred A Computer Science Degree is highly preferred Experience working with Jira and Confluence Basic knowledge of network engineering Experience creating and updating processes and procedures Experience working with automation tools such as Ansible Developing KPIs and tracking metrics, with experience creating reports Experience working in a DoD environment Prior experience with C2BMC What We Can Offer You:
