What You'll Do
Spearhead the integration of safety components (seatbelts, airbags, steering wheels) with interior systems (instrument panels, center consoles, seats, headliners) to ensure seamless compatibility and compliance with global safety standards (e.g., FMVSS, ECE, Euro NCAP) Define technical interface requirements and specifications in collaboration with design and engineering teams Identify and resolve integration challenges through design reviews, simulations, and risk assessments (e.g., DFMEA) Manage critical component development and qualification activities with multiple suppliers, ensuring alignment on quality, cost, and delivery timelines Conduct on-site visits to supplier facilities (domestic and international) to oversee manufacturing processes, validate production readiness, and make on-the-spot critical decisions Drive supplier accountability for resolving integration issues and meeting safety performance targets Provide technical expertise during vehicle program launches and supplier readiness assessments Communicate progress, risks, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience in automotive engineering, with a strong focus on supplier industrialization, safety systems (restraints, airbags), and interior component integration Ability to travel 40% of the time Deep knowledge of automotive safety and restraints systems and their integration with interior components Familiarity with vehicle crashworthiness, occupant protection, and global safety regulations Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and simulation tools for design and integration analysis Strong analytical skills to address complex integration and manufacturing challenges
