Overview
WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Denver, CO office. This position is best suited for an engineer who is seeking an opportunity to work within a team-focused local office, for a large world-wide engineering firm. Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of mechanical systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects in the public and private sector. Research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems, equipment and processes. Substantiates reports and documentation regarding installation, construction, and operation specifications. Ensure responsibilities are delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, data reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction. Perform professional mechanical engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, building, infrastructure, usage, and mechanical systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits. Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans in coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. Incorporate advanced technology, modeling techniques, design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to ensure proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications; implement future-ready solutions with mechanical engineering standards. Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on various engineering, design, and construction issues related to automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems. Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects, assist with laying out installation of equipment, calculate costs and material/labor quantities, and ensure compliance with specifications, permits, schematics, and regulatory memos. Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, calculations, technical drawings, and illustrations for interpretation or presentation of data and findings. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting. Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects and provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers. Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations related to design and/or construction issues or opportunities. Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data from field investigations and contribute to action plans for moderate- to high-risk installations and equipment operations. Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs). Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record retention. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. Remain current in latest mechanical engineering techniques and practices. Collaborate with other engineers and planners on projects with building and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded projects. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline. 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and prior mechanical design experience. Engineer in Training Certification. Proficient knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and applications to project work. Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; involvement in rehabilitation and new design projects. Working knowledge of processes to reduce or eliminate hazardous substances/greenhouse gas. Working knowledge of relevant mechanical system and construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping requirements. Ability to perform technical computations and interpret plans and specifications against regulations. Project management experience with small to mid-size projects including tracking hours and expenses. Ability to inspect and investigate construction and design of facilities, applying applicable regulations and policies. Effective interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences. Self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. Ability to work independently and provide guidance to junior team members with QA/QC adherence. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and related tools. Strong problem-solving skills to apply technical knowledge to testing data and calculations for effective solutions. Ability to direct field activities safely and efficiently with subcontractors and others. Proven track record of workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond the typical workweek. Occasional travel may be required depending on project requirements. Preferred Qualifications

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $97,000 - $128,500 WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant\'s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
