Director of Safety (Commercial Construction/Electrical Contract) – Denver Metropolitan Area Base pay range: $115,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr. This role leads the development and execution of comprehensive safety and loss-control programs tailored to low voltage contracting operations. The position ensures the implementation of industry best practices and strict compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other federal, state, and local regulations to protect employees, assets, and reputational integrity. Responsibilities
Formulate, develop, and coordinate the organization’s safety and loss-control functions, aligning policies with strategic objectives and contractor-specific hazards. Conduct thorough accident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective/preventive measures to eliminate recurrence. Oversee drug and alcohol testing programs, including pre-employment, random, reasonable-for-cause, and post-accident screenings. Develop and deliver site-specific safety plans, toolbox talks, and training modules for field crews, project supervisors, and management teams. Perform regular field audits and inspections (weekly/biweekly), monitor safe work practices, and provide on-site coaching to reinforce positive behaviors. Manage incident reporting and tracking systems, analyze trends, and produce monthly/quarterly safety performance reports for executive leadership. Liaise with regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, general contractors, and trade associations to benchmark and implement best safety practices. Lead or participate in pre-bid and project-startup safety meetings to integrate safety requirements from project inception through close-out. Develop and manage the annual safety budget, including training, equipment, and incentive programs. Administer return-to-work/restricted-duty programs. Chair the company Safety Committee and drive employee engagement through recognition and incentive initiatives. Maintain and update the corporate safety manual, ensuring it reflects changes in regulations, standards, and best practices. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Minimum of 7 years of safety leadership experience in the electrical, low voltage or general contracting industry. OSHA 30-Hour Certification and OSHA Train-the-Trainer credentials. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent certification preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with NFPA 70E, OSHA standards, and other relevant codes. Proven track record conducting root-cause investigations and driving measurable improvements in safety outcomes. Preferred Experience
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence behaviors at all organizational levels. Strong analytical aptitude with the ability to turn data into actionable insights and prioritized safety initiatives. Leadership experience managing a small team of safety professionals, including hiring, coaching, and performance management. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with safety management software platforms. Ability to travel regularly to job sites across the region and foster collaborative relationships with field personnel. Reporting Structure
Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer Direct Reports will include Safety Managers, Safety Coordinators, or Safety Specialists Pay Rate
