Bechtel Corporation Bechtel has been appointed by The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) to provide Construction Management Services for Phase II (BSVII) of The BART Silicon Valley Program. This landmark project is a six mile, four-station extension, linking the Phase I terminus at the Berryessa/North San Jose BART station to the Santa Clara Station in the City of Santa Clara. BSVII is planned to include a 54-foot single-bore tunnel, three underground stations, one at-grade station and a maintenance facility. Job Summary
In this role, you will support the Program Manager and oversee the activities of Resident Engineers, Assistant Resident Engineers, Office Engineers, Lead Inspectors, Construction Inspectors, and Administrative/Project personnel. Major Responsibilities
Manages the organization and direction of construction and related activities of a single construction contract, including actions of Bechtel, subcontractors, client contractors, suppliers, and their representatives. Acts as primary contact. Oversees and monitors contractor work for compliance to schedule, budget, technical specifications, contract drawings, and contract requirements. Resolves design and field construction problems. Attends construction progress meetings and reports on status. Prepares internal and external reports pertaining to job status. Implements design and field changes. Maintains effective client and functional department relationships. Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s or master's degree (or international equivalent) in construction management, geology, engineering, or related field and twenty (20) years of experience in heavy civil construction with ten (10) years of experience in construction of rail transit projects, especially tunnels, trackwork, and underground stations. Two or more tunnel projects using verifiable pressurized-face, earth pressure balance or slurry TBMs of diameter greater than 18 feet. Experience with Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) method excavations. Experience with ground freezing and ground improvement projects. Experience as a Resident Engineer or Construction Manager on a rail transit project of at least $500 million. Required Knowledge And Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent ability to proactively act upon and solve construction and contract issues. Solid understanding of applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations. Cal-OSHA/OSHA 30 training certification at start of work on project (or ability to obtain quickly). Certification of training on Title 8 Tunnel Safety Orders (or ability/plan to obtain quickly). Bechtel is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
