The Regional VP Construction Execution is responsible for the direct supervision of the Regional Construction Project teams, ensuring the implementation of all Medxcel Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) projects. The Regional VP Construction Execution must ensure communication with the appropriate stakeholders and Health Ministry leadership, driving successful coordination and completion of construction projects in the assigned regions. The primary focus is ensuring the efficiency, professionalism and effectiveness of facilities’ design and construction in alignment with the mission and strategy of Ascension, Medxcel, and Health Ministries. This position will be located at Ascension Seton Cove Office- Austin, TX. Responsibilities
Operational Management (50%): Communicates and implements strategic initiatives in alignment with Medxcel and customer strategic priorities; drives business innovation, service strategies, continuous process improvement and achievement of construction projects through collaborative partnerships to ensure service excellence; provides leadership to Regional Construction teams to achieve performance metrics, business objectives and strategic priorities; oversees the development of project budgets, project schedules and project cash flow while ensuring compliance with allocated funding sources; coordinates and directs internal/external project audits; ensures departmental compliance applicable statutory, regulatory, and administrative requirements relative to industry standards and Medxcel policies; works closely with direct reports on scope of projects to ensure quality delivery of all projects; conducts project reviews for major capital projects in alignment with Medxcel and PDC guidelines; reports risks, issues, and key metrics to Medxcel leadership in an expeditious manner; defines the contract parameters for each project within the standardized contract template and clearly communicates expectations to direct reports and preferred partners; establish a formal commissioning, warranty, and retainage process within construction agreements and project execution; act as the primary liaison for all regional external professional service and construction firms, including contract application review and ensuring that all service firms and construction managers meet Medxcel and Ascension standards related to conduct, safety, and operating procedures; communicates effectively with Health Ministry leadership, Medxcel leadership, Regional Directors, Project Managers, and external firms responsible for project work; leverages and maintains collaborative relationships with Medxcel customers including Ascension System Office, Health Ministries, other clients, and related vendors; reduce cost of construction through new methods, updated contracts, increased visibility of contingency, and process ownership. Management (30%): Implement conceptual budget tool for capital budget development and update annually based on project data; conduct talent assessment of new direct reports and partner with HR on developing plans to elevate performance; create and deliver standard assessment, measurement, and reporting tools; review and reallocate resources in each market based upon demand and location of new projects; standardize and enhance customer project communication with executives; assist and support on-site leadership with identifying and implementing cost and/or schedule reduction opportunities; conduct periodic business reviews with customers; assist onsite management with ensuring the customer’s program understanding, customer satisfaction, strategic partnering, and continuous improvement; develop and nurture key customer relationships to create loyalty to Medxcel in addition to local construction operations; be visible and available to key customer leadership during site visits. Coaching and Development (20%): Mentor Medxcel construction associates across the nation with an emphasis on operational excellence, developing talent, mentoring and inspiring performance, and enabling on-site leaders to succeed; build commitment and drive engagement by communicating goals, soliciting input and inspiring action through coaching and mentoring; provide timely guidance and feedback to help others excel; build talent capabilities to support current initiatives and future objectives in the technical and leadership talent pool, emphasizing retention and development. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Business, Project Management or related field – required. Master’s degree in a relevant field – preferred. License/Certification:
Valid Driver’s License – required; Certified Healthcare Constructor, Certified Associate in Project Management, Project Management – required; Professional, Certified Healthcare Facility Manager or related credential – required. Experience:
At least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in design, construction, maintenance, or facilities – required; at least 15 years of healthcare design and construction experience – preferred; experience managing associates in a matrix reporting structure – preferred. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Problem solving; planning/organizing; demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills; proficiency with MS Office Suite and project management/construction management software; leadership in matrix environments; critical thinking; decisive judgment; accountability; ability to delegate and report progress; ability to coach/mentor others on design and construction, regulations, and internal procedures; 25-50% travel required.
