AECOM is currently seeking a skilled Architectural Project Manager to support capital improvement initiatives at San Diego International Airport. This role is part of the Airport’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP), overseeing a variety of architectural projects from concept through completion. This position is responsible for planning, directing, supervising, and controlling the execution of all technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of assigned projects. This role ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational goals. Responsibilities include: Provide direction and management for small to medium-sized primarily design-bid-build projects and ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations. Ability and willingness to mentor staff to develop and enhance their project management skills and capabilities. Participation on design evolution and review of plans, stakeholder coordination, phasing, and schedule development for assigned projects. Develop project bid packages. Develop and manage scope to meet project goals and objectives. Plan and define program goals and devise methods to accomplish them. Develop, maintain, update, and implement a risk register and risk management plan. Work closely with Airport Design and Construction Department (ADC) Construction Management group during the construction phase. Act as ADC CIP representative with stakeholders during the program execution. Negotiate changes to the scope of work with contractors. May participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies in support of ADC. Oversee the establishment of the Project Management Plan (PMP). Ensure that the project meets or exceeds goals established in the PMP. Establish the program requirements for all areas of the project and monitor the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria. Plan, direct, supervise, and control the execution of all technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project. Field responsibilities may include procurement and payment to contractors and consultants. Work with other team members to follow the budget, schedules, and plan for all elements of a project. Work with ADC management to devise and execute action plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work. Maintain current and timely change orders. Promote excellence on the project through the application of Quality Assurance processes. Promote a Safety-First approach in all matters and a zero-approach to accidents on projects. Monitor and report to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones and any conditions that would affect project cost or schedule. Establish regular meetings to review project status and formulate action items. Contribute to the advancement of ADC’s goals through commitment to productive collaboration with all stakeholders. Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Architectural license. A valid Class C driver’s license and the ability to maintain eligibility under the Airport Authority’s Authorized Drivers Program. Successful clearance of TSA background check and drug/alcohol screening is a prerequisite for working at the airport. Preferred Requirements: Architectural license; licensure in the state of California is preferred. Extensive experience with the Design-Bid-Build delivery method. Experience preparing final design documents and bid packages for multi-discipline public agency projects. Aviation-related experience is a plus. Previous project management experience on similar or related projects; Aviation/airport project experience is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of project management roles and responsibilities. Proven ability to perform in a management capacity. Excellent written and oral communications skills. Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
