This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities, and encompasses Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. We are seeking an experienced Manager of Manufacturing Engineering to lead a team focused on advancing human spaceflight through innovative manufacturing solutions. You will oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, including design for manufacturability, work instruction creation, tooling procurement support, process planning, and configuration of efficient work cells. You will collaborate with design, quality, tooling, facilities, logistics, operations, and project management to deliver high-quality hardware on aggressive timelines. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical acumen, skilled in driving continuous improvement in a dynamic environment. Position Specific Details: Shift: A | Mon-Fri (6am-2:30pm) Location: Space Coast, FL Relocation: Available Potential travel up to 10% for training and other support activities Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers responsible for production of the Lunar vehicle and subcomponents Build a team of top talent manufacturing engineers to enable a transformational and flexible organization Lead the team through design development within the Lunar IPTs, Build & Flow, process, and manufacturing development needs Assist the Operations Leadership team in facilitating effective decision-making on complex scenarios with significant impact on the vehicle Provide effective, efficient, focused, and adaptive decision-making in a high-velocity aerospace environment Lead the development of fabrication specifications, acceptance and test plans, maintenance plans, and Statements of Work Support requirements generation within the IPT and establish and support Interface Control Models (ICMs) Support design trades with the IPTs to enable efficient design for manufacturing and operations Identify and develop critical manufacturing processes and steps required for the assembly, integration, and testing of the Lunar Transporter Team Focus & Domain Expertise
Lunar Mission Operations plays a crucial role in the successful deployment and operation of the MK2 vehicle. This division collaborates with engineering, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure the MK2 vehicle meets mission requirements and performs in the lunar environment. Their expertise drives the successful development, assembly, testing, and preparation for lunar operations. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role 3+ years of experience creating English work instructions Must be able to work second shift and have flexibility to move shifts as needed; open to extended hours if required Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field (preferred) Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification PMP certification and EVMS experience Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001) 4+ years leading projects/teams in aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing, especially in human-rated programs and hazardous operations Demonstrated leadership and relationship-building skills that drive team performance Broad technical experience across hardware domains including assembly, bonding, fastening, machining, composites, and integration Experience across multiple stages of spacecraft/launch vehicle product lifecycle (NPI, design-to-rate production, product transition) Hands-on assembly, integration, and troubleshooting in aerospace with strong fabrication skills (machining, welding, composites, mechanical/electrical assembly) Experience designing, building, and commissioning tooling and fixtures for manufacturing, assembly, and testing Strong understanding of GD&T, DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing process development Proficiency with PLM/MRP systems, BOM management, and product structure reconciliation Experience with manufacturing automation, digital work instructions, and advanced metrology (CMM, laser scanning) Experience supporting requirements generation and maintaining Interface Control Models within IPTs Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, Jira, Confluence; strong organizational and analytical skills Strong communication skills for teams, customers, and suppliers across locations Ability to work onsite in a fast-paced production environment Commitment to world-class mission assurance, quality, attention to detail, and dedication Culture Statement
