DESCRIPTION The BIM for Construction Regional Technical Manager will contribute to technical excellence by supporting the Regional Practice Leader and collaborating with department managers and construction/engineering staff throughout all project phases, from pursuit efforts to final delivery, to use model-centric and innovative data and processes. Areas of focus beyond evolving the Construction Practice to incorporate BIM for Infrastructure as common practice providing technical expertise, leadership, and guidance for our most technically complex inspection projects including: providing technical leadership in business development activities, building on Model Centric Processes, and mentoring less experienced engineers. The Regional Technical Manager must exhibit advanced technical skills in one or more areas of construction engineering and will build and maintain a professional profile and reputation within the industry. This role necessitates strong technical and communication skills, which must be applied throughout the Region. The successful candidate will leverage their subject matter expertise to facilitate technical progress within the regional transportation team and effectively collaborate with staff members. The BIM for Construction Regional Technical Manager will work closely with and report to the Regional Transportation Practice Leader to prioritize responsibilities and promote collaborative excellence in all of Michael Baker’s construction engineering services. Responsibilities
Serve as Technical Manager, Technical Lead and/or Advisor for local and/or regional projects. Provides technical leadership and guidance on complex and/or strategic projects across the region. Assists with preparation of scope of work and fee proposals in their specialty subject matter area. Assist Department Managers, Office Executives, and Regional Practice Leads as applicable on major or strategic pursuits, lending technical credibility/expertise to the pursuit team. Support current clients to expand BIM/Digital Delivery services. Stay knowledgeable of industry trends and current standards and specifications developments within their specific technical areas. Support growth within new markets related to BIM for Infrastructure services. Support maintaining Michael Baker International’s industry recognition as an organizational leader within BIM for Infrastructure. Support development of tools and processes to provide clients services to pass design and construction information to asset inventories/management as part of a digital As-builts process to support operations, and asset management as they mature toward digital twins. Collaborate with department managers and project managers regarding technical resources for project staffing assignments and execution in complex technical areas. Serve as a key project resource interfacing with clients, and internal staff, to assist project managers with providing a high-quality product that meets the schedule and maintains client satisfaction. Monitor QA/QC procedures and client requirements for Quality in coordination with the appropriate members of the quality assurance team. Enable clients to perform model-based QA/QC with a focus on constructability. Help develop technical execution and quality work standards, tools and Best Practices across the company and facilitate implementation in the area of BIM anddigital deliveryfor Construction Build and maintain effective and enduring relationships across Michael Baker offices, regions, and external organizations to advance technical excellence and quality within and across regions. Provide technical leadership in a specialty subject matter area. Serve in a position of leadership for technical working groups. Provide leadership and direction by coaching, mentoring, and motivating staff on issues such as development of technical skills and quality assurance. Identify and support upskilling talent within their area of subject matter expertise. Maintain awareness of Digital delivery technology developments and trends and develop a professional profile and reputation through presentations to relevant conferences/meetings. Actively participate in internal and external professional development activities such as technical committees for trade organizations and industry standards development efforts. Professional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is required. Minimum 10+ years of construction engineering or associated technology support related experience including 5+ years of technical experience in the area of BIM and digital delivery is required. Must possess a valid Professional Engineering License. Have the skills to perform QC Oversight responsibilities.This includes an understanding of the technical process, construction, design and data requirements needed to provide those quality reviews. Must understand data standardization as it relates to exchange information requirements leveraging common data standards (ie OGC, IFC, etc) to mature Construction Management System (AASTHOware, BIC, ACC, etc) connected with CAD to GIS workflows into openBIM workflows. Must have a strong understanding of potential methods to exchange construction information into asset management systems through Digital As-Builts (DABS). Must demonstrate solid communication and relationship building skills, both internally and externally, to support change management while improving processes, leveraging technology, and supporting clients. Ability to leverage technical expertise, existing connections and/or client relationships to help lead the identification of new opportunities to support winning new work. Ability to effectively network and influence at peer levels. Ability to coach, mentor and upskill technical capabilities of less experienced staff. Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to adhering to scope, schedules and budgets. The approximate compensation range for this position is $131,634 to $205,597. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
