Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2. This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. The selected candidate will be responsible for a Mechanical Design Guidance Computer (GC) Section within the SDS Design Engineering organization, AVE Element and will report directly to an SDS Mechanical Design Engineering Department Manager. Responsibilities: Promotes the professional development of the Homeroom workforce and fosters a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around employee engagement and inclusion, affordability, innovation, value growth, and continuous improvement. Managing and guiding direct report annual goals, performance evaluations and compensations reviews Ensure accurate time charging and timecard approvals Conflict resolution, managing performance issues and improvement plans Career growth mentoring for team of direct reports Aligning direct reports to technical roles based on program needs Helping identify stretch assignments and opportunities - Work as the integration lead for all elements across the weapon system that interact with LGC Specific Hardware. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of related experience with Master's degree in a STEM discipline Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope. Minimum of 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against cost and schedule. Experience managing a Program effort or Major Subcontract (in either a supply chain, SMT, or program/project management role) Experience identifying and tracking program risks and opportunities Experience with the manufacturing of electronic systems Demonstrated understanding of Lean, Agile or Six Sigma Tools. Experience with specific tools available for Subcontract management associated with the terms and conditions of the Subcontract (Award Fee/incentive fee flow downs, supplier assessment/evaluation, Corrective Action Requests, Letters of Concern, etc.) Experience in early design phases, to include conceptual studies, analysis of alternatives, feasibility studies, or preliminary system-level design Project / Program Management skills (proposal creation, development, and adherence to master plans and schedules, budget tracking, risk, and opportunity management) Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally, written, and through well-crafted presentations across all levels of an organization Manage multiple projects concurrently in meeting customer requirements/expectations Financial experience in EVMS or similar cost and schedule management system.
