Overview
Substation Project Engineer at Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI). The role involves conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization. Responsibilities
Develop and deliver physical, electrical, civil and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits and specifications. Assist the Project Manager in planning and execution of projects, coordinate with clients and stakeholders, train and mentor design staff, ensure project quality assurance, and oversee design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff. Coordinate tasks with ECI's discipline groups (Distribution Studies, Transmission Studies, Grounding Studies, Protection (relay coordination and settings), Civil Engineering, Communication (SCADA Integration), Transmission & Distribution Engineering, Environmental Planning, Surveying, Lands/Right-of-Way, Project Management/Controls). Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering. 6+ years of project and design engineering experience or an acceptable combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning skills; ability to work in a team environment; commitment to quality and accuracy; willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules. PE license is preferred. Advanced knowledge of power engineering principles, familiarity with applicable codes, standards and design tools; basic project management execution skills; ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team. Experience in utility or merchant power industry is a plus. May be subject to client-mandated drug and background checks. Occasional travel may be required; therefore, applicants will be subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements.
