Construction Multifamily Project Engineer
Commercial Construction
An established general contractor is currently looking for a Multifamily Project Engineer to join their growing team.
They have well established relationships throughout the region with subcontractors, engineers and architects to ensure production of the highest quality projects. This firm has proven success delivering on high value multifamily projects and has been established in D.C. for over 20 years.
Overview
The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, execution, delivery, close out and the overall success of a specific project(s). The Project Engineer coordinates and manages the construction process from start through close-out and works with the development and asset management teams to assist design efforts and ensure quality and delivery align with overall expectations. The Project Engineer reports to the Project Manager on the project. Responsibilities
Participate in the pre-construction phase, including design meetings, cost estimates and project schedules, and developing contract documents. Provide supervisory support to field management by assisting the superintendent to ensure project success. Evaluate field staff performance for the duration of the project. Organize and execute the contracting and buyout phase of the project. Prepare master project schedule, review daily reports from the superintendent, attend weekly subcontractor meetings, and ensure materials are procured in advance of need. Monitor code compliance by reviewing material test reports, scheduling 3rd party inspectors, and maintaining permit and inspection notebooks. Maintain quality control by inspecting work, reviewing shop drawings with architects and engineers, and engaging design consultants for onsite inspections and punch lists. Manage material control by monitoring deliveries, coordinating placement, expediting replacements, and ensuring materials are used as intended. Oversee cost control by managing materials, reviewing sub change order requests, and thoroughly reviewing monthly payment requests. Ensure safety on the job site by inspecting practices, tools and equipment, fall protection, scaffolds, and safety devices; follow company OSHA guidelines. Promote cleanliness and waste management by enforcing housekeeping practices with the trades. Ensure site security by implementing project-specific security measures. Monitor erosion control by filing NOI and ensuring compliance with SWPPP regulatory requirements. Handle administrative duties such as scheduling and hosting monthly onsite meetings with development to review project status and create weekly schedule updates. Manage contractor and subcontractor draws. Prepare close-out books containing final project documentation and coordinate with property management representatives and subs/vendors to resolve remaining items post-construction. Qualifications
4-year degree in construction, engineering, or related field 2-5 years of managing commercial/multifamily construction projects from start to finish 2+ years supervisory experience Ability to work in both office and construction environments Knowledge and Skills
Verbal and written communication skills Highly organized and detail-oriented Self-motivated, proactive team player Ability to meet deadlines Experience with MS Office and ability to learn new programs as needed Benefits
