Bowdoin Shuttle Driver (Casual)
Bowdoin College is seeking a reliable and service-oriented Shuttle Driver to provide on-demand transportation for students within the Brunswick area. Operating a 7-passenger van, the driver will deliver safe, friendly, and timely service. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean vehicle, operating a radio communication device, and completing daily and weekly reports. Compensation: The pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour, and this position is eligible for shift and weekend pay differentials. Education/Skills Requirements: High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate's or Vocational/Technical training preferred A valid Driver's license and the ability to meet the requirements of the College's current Motor Vehicle Use Policy required Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to remain calm and act effectively in emergency or high-pressure situations Strong time management skills with a keen attention to detail Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook Experience Requirements: At least one year of experience in a customer service-focused driving role (e.g., taxi, chauffeur, shuttle, or bus driver) preferred Standard Work Days and Hours: This is an onsite, casual, non-benefit eligible position, working less than 19 hours/week. The shuttle operates 7 days a week whenever the students are in session. At a minimum, casual drivers are required to work one 8-hour shift per month. We currently need coverage on Fridays and Saturdays between 7:30 PM and 1:30 AM. Employment at Bowdoin College is contingent upon satisfactory completion of applicable background checks including but not limited to: criminal records, educational verifications, driving records (when job-related), and/or credit history (when job related).
