Position Summary

The Instructor is responsible for fostering student learning by providing high quality classroom instruction. The Instructor must strive for continuous improvement of the curriculum, learning activities, and instructional resources to ensure student success. In addition to instructional duties, the Instructor will also be fully involved in the institutional planning process and developing the goals and objectives of the assigned academic department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrate and maintain a high level of competence and expertise in the teaching field or subject area. Develop, implement, and teach courses that are designed to meet individual student needs and ensure an effective learning experience. Evaluate and record student performance and achievement in a timely manner and provide prompt feedback to students and the administration to assure learning outcomes are met. Participate as a contributing faculty member of the College, including participating in planning long-range and short-term goals for the department and College, as well as maintaining regular office ours and participating in faculty meetings. At the discretion of the College, the instructor may be appointed to serve as program director for the program. In order to perform these essential functions, the Instructor must be present at work. Therefore, attendance is an essential function. Qualifications

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field from an accredited institution is required. Must be a holder of an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification (CCC-SLP). Minimum of two (2) years full-time clinical experience required. One (1) year of teaching/instructional experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to use instructional technology preferred. Application Procedures/Additional Information

Sick Leave All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Personal Leave All regular full-time instructional staff earns up to five (5) regularly scheduled workdays of personal leave per leave year. Unused Personal Leave converts to sick leave if not used. Tuition Assistance This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
