The Woodbridge School District is accepting applications for a Child Nutrition Operations Specialist. This is a 12-month position.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Child Nutrition Operations Specialist supports the effective management and daily operations of the district's Child Nutrition Department. This position works closely with the Supervisor of Child Nutrition to ensure that all school food service programs operate efficiently, comply with state and federal regulations, and provide healthy, appealing, and cost-effective meals to students. The Operations Specialist serves as a key liaison between cafeteria managers, child nutrition staff, and district administration, focusing on quality control, training, compliance, and operational improvements across all schools.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, Business Administration, or related field (preferred but not required). Minimum of 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in food service operations, preferably in a K-12 or institutional setting. Knowledge of all USDA Child Nutrition Programs, state regulations, and local health and safety requirements. Strong financial, organizational, and analytical skills, including experience with budgets, forecasting, and inventory management. Ability to train, mentor, and support food service staff to ensure consistency and quality. Proficiency with nutrition and point-of-sale software, Microsoft Office, and other relevant systems. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain within one month). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Supervisor of Child Nutrition in overseeing the daily operations of all district food service programs. Support cafeteria managers and staff in implementing menus, production records, and food safety standards. Monitor compliance with USDA meal pattern requirements, Delaware DOE regulations, and health department standards. Conduct site visits to evaluate food quality, service efficiency, and adherence to procedures. Provide training and professional development opportunities for child nutrition staff. Assist with financial management, including monitoring expenditures, tracking inventory, and analyzing cost-effectiveness. Support menu development, recipe standardization, and promotion of healthy food choices for students. Ensure accuracy of meal counts, claims, and reports submitted to the state and federal agencies. Collaborate with district administration on initiatives to improve program participation and student satisfaction. Serve as a resource to staff, parents, and community members regarding nutrition services. Perform other duties as assigned.
