Geo-Logic Associates (GLA) is an employee-owned, multidisciplinary, civil, geologic, geotechnical, hydrogeologic, and environmental consulting firm. The firm was established in 1991 and currently operates out of 29 US office locations and an affiliate office in Peru. GLA is currently seeking a full-time Staff Geologist to provide support for civil/site infrastructure, solid waste, mining, and environmental remediation projects in GLA's San Diego, California office.

Ideally, the applicant will have a well-rounded background in the earth sciences and engineering geology and will be able to work collaboratively with GLA professionals across all offices and disciplines. Typical projects can include classical geology, hydrogeology, fault studies, slope stability, permitting, construction project management, groundwater and stormwater monitoring, and planning evaluations. Experience with, graphics, GIS, database management, statistical analysis, and project management software is highly desirable. Candidate will be expected to work in the office with potential assignments away from home. Work could include travel and working at remote locations. Candidate will be required to interact with team members, clients, contractors, and the general public. Candidate will regularly work at municipal solid waste disposal sites, and mine site, and may work at hazardous waste sites occasionally. Employment is subject to a pre-employment physical examination, including drug screening.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Coordinating and performing field investigation programs that frequently include surface mapping, geophysical surveys, logging boreholes drilled by others, and supervising installation of groundwater monitoring wells. Coordinating and overseeing routine groundwater and stormwater monitoring programs that typically include several subcontractors and require ongoing data management and review. Preparing groundwater and stormwater monitoring reports that commonly require database management, statistical analysis, and groundwater occurrence and flow evaluations. Assisting in the preparation of permitting documents. Performing a variety of cost estimating tasks. Field assignments to support ongoing construction quality assurance projects, with occasional site visits to support design and construction activities and attend meetings. Ability to read and understand schematics, diagrams, site plans, and aerial maps. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, clients, employees in other departments, and others as encountered in the course of work; this position requires the flexibility to best serve the firm's needs and may include performing other duties as assigned. Pay range : $31.82 to $39.19

Requirements for the position:

Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree in geology, engineering geology, environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, or related field. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well independently and within a team environment. Strong attention to detail; ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Preferred skills include:

Advanced degree in geological science, earth science, or geotechnical engineering. Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, data management, statistical analysis, and common earth science-related software. Work experience in the solid waste and/or mining industry. OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour annual HAZWOPER training. MSHA training. GIT, EIT, or ability to receive certification within 6 months of employment. Qualified Industrial Stormwater Practitioner (QISP) certification. Candidate must:
