The Web Administrator will perform advanced web design and development work for the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). This position will perform web environment design, deployment, development, and maintenance activities. Responsibilities include maintaining existing TDA websites, developing new TDA websites, and collaborating with web content managers to keep information current. This role works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Primary Responsibilities
Analyze the layout of Internet or intranet pages for efficiency and effectiveness. Assist in the comprehensive website rewrite in coordination with the existing vendor, ensuring smooth integration and transition. Design, develop and implement specialized programs or routines to supplement and enhance web-based applications using HTML, HTML5, Java/JSP and ASP.NET/C#. Maintain the day-to-day operation and administration of websites; find and implement improvements to site layout. Interact with System and Database Administrators to identify and correct problems with websites and web applications related to IIS and Microsoft SQL. Maintain and enhance TDAs web Content Management Application using HTML, Java, JSP and Dot Net Nuke (DNN). Create new websites and web taxonomies using a provided look-and-feel, HTML, Java, JSP and Dot Net Nuke CMS. Provide support of web-based application software through diagnosis of problems and implementation of changes to resolve issues and maintain software at current level. Develop and provide web hits and other statistical reports; analyze reports to identify improvements in site layout. Ensure all sites meet state/federal requirements including DR and 508 accessibility standards; implement website security measures for Internet and intranet security. Follow all TDA policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications / Requirements

Bachelors degree (one year of related work experience may substitute for one year of college). Minimum five (5) years of work experience with websites and web-based applications. Work experience in application development. Experience using Java, JSP, and ASP.NET/C#. Experience operating computer equipment and modifying programs for computer applications. Experience using Dot Net Nuke. Preferred Qualifications
Experience using Oracle and PL/SQL. Experience using Apache Tomcat or similar webserver. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of computer systems limitations and capabilities; web applications design techniques; and programming languages. Skill in programming and in using computer software; in modifying or developing programs for applications. Ability to design web pages; manage multiple projects; schedule, test, and install web pages; communicate effectively; exercise sound judgment; and maintain confidentiality. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Normal office environment; possible exposure to dust and allergens. Mostly sedentary but may involve walking, standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and extended computer work. May require extended hours, some evenings/weekends. Travel up to 5% of the work period, occasionally overnight. Telework & Work Hours
