ID: 72873306 Shift: 1030-2300 3x12 Hr Description: Floating between departments and or local locations within 20 miles is required.Job Summary: Provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures in the Operating Room. Works under the supervision of the surgeon. Facilitates a safe, effective and orderly operating room to maximize patient safety. Essential Duties: -Demonstrates ability to problem-solve in relation to the procedure being performed. -Maintain current knowledge of various equipment, procedures and supplies. -Adheres to proper surgical procedures of aseptic technique and safety in the use of instruments and equipment. -Performs instrument counts prior to each procedure and maintains an accurate count of sponges, needles, and instruments during the procedure. -Secures and prepares all supplies and instruments required for surgical intervention before procedures. -Ensures the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the OR. -Prepares patient skin for surgical treatment. -Position and re-position patient during surgery. -Helps monitor patients during surgery. -Provide supportive care during the pre-operative phase. -Performs scrub functions. -Ensures that specimens are correctly handled and routed to the proper source. -Maintains current knowledge of anatomy/physiology and medications used intraoperatively. -Keeps current with developments in the field through participation in seminars, workshops and publications. -Follows all federal, state and departmental safety procedures.Skills: Required Skills & Experience: -Two (2) years current experience required in large OR. -Must be a team player, flexible, and accustomed to fast paced environment. Preferred Skills & Experience: -Ortho, ENT and/or vascular experience a plus. -Epic experience preferred, but not required; can train on-site.Education: Required Education:HS Diploma or GED and one of the following:-Completion of a Surgical Technician training program (requirement verified at interview) or graduation from an accredited school.-Certified Surgical Technician credential from either NBSTSA or NCCT ten (10) years of experience.Preferred Education:-N/ARequired Certifications & Licensure:-BLS certification required and must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross.Preferred Certifications & Licensure:-Certified Surgical Technicians (CST) through NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery certification NCCT.Job Category: Clinical - Allied Guaranteed Hours: 36.00 Contract Weeks:89aa415a4b-8b21-40fc-a65c-70d2b25ca29a
