At Houston Methodist, the Mammography Technologist II is an experienced technologist who performs routine and specialized mammograms, conducts quality controls as needed, and serves as a mentor to Mammography Technologist I and students. The position works independently with sound judgment and advanced clinical skills on challenging mammography procedures and patient care situations, delivering exceptional patient care and adhering to mammography standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure patient safety and customer service. PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Promotes a positive work environment and contributes to a dynamic, team focused work unit that actively helps one another to achieve optimal department results. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team by actively communicating and reporting pertinent patient care information and data in a comprehensive manner. Guides and mentors Mammography Technologist I and students to help build confidence in skills, knowledge and abilities. Uses peer-to-peer accountability toward department goals for retention and employee engagement. SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs mammograms for both diagnostic and screening purposes; performs biopsies and bone density exams. Proactively assesses and responds to patient needs to optimize care, image quality and experience, including positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors. Modifies factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations. Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic and interventional breast procedures, including aiding with sterile technique. Provides accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level using verbal and non-verbal skills, terminology and language. QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Follows safety standards and conducts imaging procedures accordingly. Maintains sterile techniques, ensures radiation safety and infection control compliance. Uses critical thinking to review and critique images and adjust to meet MQSA requirements. Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement; reports near misses and errors promptly to improve processes and identify trends. Monitors patient reactions and potential outcomes as appropriate. Ensures all imaging equipment has undergone quality control and is in safe working order prior to use; reports malfunctions and participates in preventative maintenance. Assists with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice. FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures. Enters charges at the time of service. Uses resources efficiently and demonstrates self-motivation to manage time and prioritize daily tasks. GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Fosters a positive teaching environment by engaging Mammography Technologist I and co-workers in valuable learning opportunities aligned with business objectives. Actively participates in special projects, department initiatives or shared governance; identifies development needs and updates the My Development Plan accordingly. EDUCATION Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below. WORK EXPERIENCE Three years\' experience as a Mammography Technologist License/Certification

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS - REQUIRED CMRT - Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist - State Licensure (MRT-GC) AND ARRT-R - Radiologic Technologist - Radiographer (ARRT) AND ARRT-M - Radiologic Technologist - Mammography (ARRT) AND BLS - Basic Life Support or Instructor (AHA) KSA/ Supplemental Data

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to perform the assigned job, with ongoing assessments. Sufficient proficiency in English for safe performance of essential functions. Effective communication with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers with a customer service focus and positive language use. Ability to work independently and handle challenging procedures and patient care situations with sound judgment and advanced clinical skills. Basic computer knowledge; able to operate Hospital/Radiology Information Systems and Office software to maintain patient and exam documents. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to ensure excellent customer service across all levels of care. Adapts to multiple priorities with minimal supervision and supports problem-solving. Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2025, will be Houston Methodist\'s ninth hospital and will incorporate advanced technology from day one. The hospital will have 100 beds at opening (licensed for 276) and will be located in the rapidly growing U.S. 290 corridor, offering services and specialties opening in 2024 with insights to patient communication and care.
