Bedford Stuyvesant Early Childhood Development Center (BSECDC)

A federally funded Head Start program dedicated to providing high-quality, comprehensive early education and family engagement services to children aged 2 to 5 years within the Bedford-Stuyvesant community. BSECDC adopts a holistic, strength-based approach to meet the needs of our earliest learners and their families. JOB DESCRIPTION: EDUCATION SITE MANAGER POSITION/JOB TITLE: Education Site Manager SUPERVISES: Center-Based Staff (Teaching Staff, Family Assistant, XXXX) JOB SUMMARY: The Education Site Manager (ESM) oversees daily operations at their assigned center, providing leadership, supervision, and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to children and families, and promotes continuous program improvement. The ESM ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, including Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, NYC Department of Health, and NYC Department of Education policies. The ESM collaborates with other BSECDC management team members to coordinate services effectively. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage daily center operations, including staffing, compliance with ratios, and classroom support; Maintain a licensed facility in collaboration with Facilities staff, adhering to NYC Department of Health regulations; Support curriculum implementation in partnership with the Education Director and Coaches; Ensure teachers employ responsive, respectful, and effective teaching practices; Promote cultural competence, global education, and peaceful classroom environments; Ensure timely completion of child screenings and assessments; Monitor and respond to child outcomes data; Coordinate with the Health and Disabilities Coordinator to support children with disabilities; Participate in case management meetings to improve child and family outcomes; Build professional relationships with parents to foster communication and engagement; Communicate effectively with families, maintaining confidentiality; Collaborate with the Family Services Coordinator on ERSEA regulations and parent engagement; Supervise and support the Family Assistant and staff, including performance evaluations and professional development; Participate in management and team meetings, including external agency meetings; Advocate for children, families, and staff needs; Assist in staff recruitment, hiring, and training; Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance documentation; Identify program needs and develop improvement plans based on monitoring and self-assessment; Follow all policies and regulations to safeguard children; Perform additional duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education with State Certification; At least two years of supervisory experience; Minimum of two years classroom teaching experience with preschoolers; Related educational affiliations are a plus. COMPETENCIES: Excellent communication skills and cultural competency; Ability to administer screenings and assessments; Skill in observing and assessing classroom environments and teacher interactions; Effective communication with parents, staff, and colleagues; Ability to foster positive relationships and demonstrate universal values of respect and compassion. Must maintain up-to-date medical reports with immunizations, confirming fitness to work with young children.
