The

Construction Project Manager

is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and execution of assigned vertical building construction projects. Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and internal teams, the Project Manager ensures that projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and quality standards. This role also leads and mentors project engineers and field teams, fosters strong subcontractor relationships, and provides regular updates to senior management. Candidates must have proven prior experience managing school construction projects (K12 or higher education), serving as the project manager from start to finish. Responsibilities: Project Leadership & Team Management

Lead all phases of vertical construction projects, including

K12 schools, universities, and institutional facilities , from award through closeout.

Supervise and mentor Project Engineers and support staff; promote ongoing training and professional development.

Serve as the primary liaison between the client, architect, consultants, and OHLA Building project team.

Report directly to senior management and provide ongoing project updates, performance reviews, and risk assessments.

Ensure all stakeholders, including district officials, school boards, and community representatives, fully understand project scope, schedule, and budget.

Planning, Scheduling & Field Coordination

Develop and manage the overall project schedule and discipline-level schedules.

Collaborate closely with the Superintendent and field staff to coordinate daily activities, site logistics, and subcontractor sequencing.

Monitor progress against project milestones; take corrective action as needed to maintain schedule.

Lead OAC meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and internal project meetings.

Adapt schedules around

academic calendars and school operational needs

to minimize disruption.

Cost Management & Change Control

Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

Issue and manage subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.

Track project costs and manage cost impacts of design changes or field conditions.

Identify and obtain approvals for scope, schedule, or budget changes.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

Ensure conformance to contract documents, specifications, and local building codes.

Collaborate with the Superintendent to enforce OHLA Buildings safety policies, site-specific plans, and OSHA compliance.

Monitor subcontractor performance and quality control measures.

Coordinate with inspectors and school facility representatives to ensure compliance with

district, state, and Department of Education standards .

Ensure project documentation is in order for inspections, punch lists, and turnover.

Client & Stakeholder Management

Maintain ongoing communication with the client, consultants, and

school administrators ; adjust project deliverables to meet unique client and student needs within contract terms.

Build and maintain positive client relationships to support current and future opportunities.

Coordinate training and compliance requirements with the client and internal teams.

Closeout & Turnover

Lead closeout procedures, including punch list resolution, final inspections, and document submission.

Ensure delivery of warranties, as-builts, and final deliverables in alignment with client expectations.

Provide orientation to school facility teams for proper operations and maintenance.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (required).

58+ years of experience managing vertical building construction projects (commercial, institutional, or mixed-use).

Direct project management experience in school construction projects (K12 or higher education) is strongly required.

Experience leading teams and managing multiple Project Engineers.

Proven knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, contracts, RFI/change order processes, and field operations.

OSHA 30-hour certification required or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and construction software such as Autodesk Build, Primavera P6, Bluebeam, or equivalent.
