Qualify donors and perform any blood collection procedures. Lead day-of-drive teams and perform charge tasks when assigned. Responsible for identifying and addressing site-specific issues (including site maintenance, utility issues, and safety concerns). Provide support, development, and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Key Responsibilities
Perform any or all blood collection procedures, including allogeneic, autologous, directed, therapeutic, automated red cell, and mini-mobile and platelet apheresis. Ensure the team successfully performs collections that meet patient needs, such as maintaining split rate and right-type mix. Perform standard collection tasks such as drive set up/function checks, donor reaction care, collection set labeling, discontinuing (disengagement), post-collection donor care, and post-collection blood processing. Lead day-of-drive teams and perform charge tasks when assigned. May perform competency assessments as necessary or directed. In some locations, may require driving to alternate work locations/sites. Qualifications
Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum one year of healthcare experience (RN/LPN, EMT, or Medical Assistant. Minimum one year of experience as a Phlebotomist, Medical Technologist, LPN, or RN. Experience with Apheresis and Whole Blood collections preferred. Ability to work on a team. Customer service skills, including effective verbal communication and public relations required. Basic computer skills preferred. Applicable local licensure if required by state directives. A current, valid driver's license. Travel is limited, but may be required. Physical Requirements
Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Physical requirements may include the ability to lift up to 50 lbs., squatting, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is required.
