Program Overview
The VoiceUp Publishing Virtual Internship Program connects ambitious student interns with emerging student leaders across college campuses to document their stories, experiences, and aspirations through compelling autobiographies. This program aims to amplify diverse student voices while providing interns with valuable experience in interviewing, writing, and project management.
Internship Details
- **Duration**: 12 weeks
- **Time Commitment**: 10-15 hours per week
- **Format**: 100% remote
- **Compensation**: Academic credit or volunteer experience
- **Supervision**: Weekly virtual check-ins with founder
Intern Responsibilities
1. **Student Leader Identification & Outreach**
- Research and identify potential student leaders across various universities
- Develop outreach strategies and initial contact protocols
- Build and maintain a database of potential candidates
- Conduct initial screening of candidates
2. **Interview & Documentation**
- Conduct virtual interviews with selected student leaders
- Develop standardized interview questions and protocols
- Record and transcribe interviews
- Follow up with subjects for additional details or clarification
3. **Content Creation**
- Transform interview content into compelling narrative formats
- Draft and edit autobiographical pieces
- Incorporate feedback from both subjects and supervisors
- Ensure consistent voice and style across all pieces
4. **Project Management**
- Maintain project timelines and deadlines
- Coordinate with student leaders for reviews and approvals
- Document best practices and processes
- Contribute to program improvement recommendations
