We are seeking experienced Structural Welders and Shipfitters to join our shipyard team supporting shipbuilding, ship repair, and modernization projects. Successful candidates will work on critical naval and commercial vessels, fabricating and assembling steel structures while ensuring the highest standards of safety, precision, and quality.

Candidates with pipe welding experience and industry-recognized certifications will be highly valued and given priority consideration.

Key Responsibilities:

Structural Welder:

  • Perform structural welding (FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) on steel plates, foundations, bulkheads, frames, and other ship structures.
  • Work from blueprints, drawings, and welding procedures to complete structural welds in various positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
  • Ensure welds meet shipyard, Navy/Coast Guard, and ABS specifications.
  • Conduct weld repairs and modifications as required.
  • Use cutting torches, grinders, and other tools to prepare and finish work.

Shipfitter:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, ship drawings, and schematics.
  • Fit, align, and install steel structures, foundations, bulkheads, and frames using hand tools, measuring devices, and cutting equipment.
  • Fabricate templates and layouts to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform tack welding and assist welders during installation.
  • Inspect completed assemblies for accuracy and quality.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience as a shipfitter, structural welder, or combination of both in a shipyard or heavy industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, fabrication, and welding processes.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in all weather conditions.
  • Proficiency with measuring tools, grinders, torches, and hand tools.

Preferred / Plus Qualifications:

  • Pipe welding experience (TIG/MIG/Stick) and ability to pass 6G tests.
  • Welding certifications (AWS D1.1, NAVSEA, ABS, or equivalent).
  • DBIDS access or eligibility for naval shipyard entry.
  • OSHA 10/30 or Competent Person certification.
  • Technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Active secret clearance and red badge ready

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and working in shipyard environments for extended periods.
  • Tolerance for working in noisy, confined, and high-heat areas.
