The receptionist meets all visitors who come to the office of the Board of Education. The receptionist provides general information about the school system and/or directs each visitor to the appropriate department for more detailed information.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Answers the telephone and takes messages.
  • Greets people who come into the office and directs them to the person who can best assist them.
  • Sorts and distributes all incoming mail.
  • Does typing for office personnel.
  • Keeps an itinerary for each person who leaves the office.
  • Performs other office duties as directed by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendents.

Knowledge of

  • Competency in skills of typing, filing, written and oral communication.
  • Operation of office machines.
  • Public relation skills including ability to relate to people, demonstrate positive interaction skills, and utilize human relation skills in contacts with the public.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination equivalent to: High school diploma, GED Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a GED as required by Kentucky law.
