Accounting Faculty

Brightpoint Community College invites applications for a highly motivated and qualified nine-month full-time Faculty to teach in the Accounting program. The successful candidate's primary responsibilities will be to teach a range of courses in face-to-face, hybrid, and online (synchronous or asynchronous) formats. Full-time responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester (fall and spring). Teaching assignments may include a mixture of online, day, and evening classes at either campus (Midlothian or Chester).

Candidate should be able to:

  • teach a full-time load of accounting courses, which may include Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, and Accounting Information Systems.
  • develop and update curriculum and instructional materials to ensure alignment with current industry standards and educational best practices.
  • advise students on their academic and career pathways.
  • participate in departmental, college-wide, and community activities including assessment, program review, and curriculum development.
  • support college initiatives related to student retention, success, and workforce alignment.
  • collaborate with faculty in other disciplines, especially within business-related programs.
  • engage in continuous professional development and maintain knowledge of trends in the accounting and business fields.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Accounting, or Master's degree and a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours in Accounting from an institution in good standing with a regional accrediting agency recognized by the US Department of Education. College level teaching experience and/or relevant work experience. Ability to use instructional technologies. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills. An understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college mission, with a focus on facilitating student success in a culture of care.

Additional Considerations:

  • Ability to teach other business-related disciplines such as Finance, Economics, Management, or Business.
  • Teaching and/or curriculum development experience at the college level (community college or university).
  • CPA, CMA, or other relevant accounting certification.
