Job Details

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, and format legal documents and correspondence such as pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and summarize case law, statutes, legal articles, and other relevant material.
  • Manage case files and documentation, ensuring all legal documents are correctly filed and accessible.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, court dates, and deadlines, ensuring attorneys are well-prepared and informed.
  • Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other contacts in a professional manner.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, depositions, and client meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with legal and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Legal Secretary, preferably within personal injury sectors.
  • Proficient in legal research with a strong understanding of legal terminology and principles.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff, clients, and external contacts.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal software applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A diploma or certificate in Legal Studies or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with court rules, procedures, and e-filing in state and federal courts.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
