Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is hiring: CUSTODIAN in Homewood

Under the direction of the Irwin Building Maintenance Supervisor, the Irwin Center Custodian will perform skilled and semi-skilled work pertaining to the upkeep of the facility. The H-F Park District’s mission statement is “to enhance the quality of life through diverse recreational opportunities, facilities and parks while caring for the environment”.

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service to our internal and external guests by providing friendly, responsive, courteous and helpful service.
• Secure and lock all windows, doors at the close of each shift
• Report any safety concerns to supervisor
• Cleaning the interior and exterior areas of the facility
• Operation of equipment and hand tools, common power tools
• Maintain/Repair all furnishings and equipment
• Set up facility spaces for programs, rentals and events
• Assist with building/maintenance project
• Address emergency problems, leaks, broken equipment, etc.
• Perform housekeeping tasks as needed or as directed by Supervisor
• Report to supervisor any safety concerns noticed in and around the facility
• Follows all policy and safety rules
• Inspect facility to identify repairs and maintenance items that need attention
• Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the Safety Manual with ability to recognize safety hazards.
• Other job related duties as assigned

• Enjoys working with and serving the public with a customer service focus
• Be a self-starter

Job Skills And Qualifications

• Some experience in a maintenance related field
• Ability to follow through on a task without immediate supervision
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently
• Ability to operate assigned equipment

Education And Training

• Janitorial or cleaning experience
• Certification in advanced Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 60 days of employment and keep certification current. The District provides this training.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
