Textum OPCO, LLC is hiring a Technician for its Belmont, NC textile manufacturing operation. At Textum, we thrive on developing innovative fabric and multi-dimensional preform solutions for our customers, which help to advance their programs and push their technologies to the next level.
We have unique expertise in developing textile solutions for extreme environments that we are leveraging for specialty composite production. The industries that we serve include aerospace, space, defense, energy, and infrastructure. Whether it's thermal protection systems for space vehicles, preforms for CMC components, or preforms and fabrics for carbon-carbon processing, we have the experience and expertise to help ensure our customer's success both as a reinforcement provider and through delivery of finished parts.
We are looking for a qualified Technician to support both development and production activities related to textile manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience building and working with mechanical systems; interfacing with engineers and peers; and communicating challenges, identifying needs, and formulating plans to overcome those challenges and needs.
The Technician will perform a wide variety of hands-on activities, including custom equipment design, build, and maintenance; production equipment style changes; additive manufacturing; metal machining; welding; and machine operator training. This is a full-time, direct hire position with 3rd shift hours, 11 pm - 7 am, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of tasks, including but not limited to acting upon and performing work from prints, work orders, documents, and verbal communications
- Support both production and R&D activities
- Adjust/repair/change essential machine components
- Help establish best practices for machine settings
- Train machine operators to complete tasks
- Record all data and results in specified forms with accuracy and responsibility
- Assist in ordering supplies
- Work with a variety of chemicals, fluids, and compressed gases and follow all OSHA standards in regards to personal protection equipment
- Ensure that all safety guidelines are followed strictly at all times and maintain a clean and orderly environment
- Learn advanced textile weaving operations
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A college degree or some college experience is a significant advantage
- Minimum 5 years experience working with textile materials is a significant advantage
- Experience working with composite materials is a plus
- Knowledge of specific yarns, weaving styles, loom types, and textile product formats is a plus
- General mechanical/technical aptitude and good manual dexterity required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment autonomously and under pressure and complete all assigned tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and perform basic math calculations
- Ability to solve problems using existing procedures to perform straightforward tasks
- Ability to work well with others in a diverse group and foster a cooperative work environment
- Ability to operate a variety of hand tools and machinery
- Excellent physical condition and endurance
- Candidates will be required to pass a drug test
