Job Description

Social Worker

New Alternatives, a drop-in center for homeless LGBT + youth and young adults (under 30), seeks a full-time licensed master social worker. New Alternatives is a harm reduction, low barrier to entry agency. We work with clients that often struggle with mental illness, physical health issues, substance abuse, and a variety of other challenges.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide short-term supportive counseling to individuals and couples
• Provide crisis intervention as needed during normal business hours
• Provide counseling and case management for clients and document actions items from each session
• Follow up on action items identified during client sessions on referrals, applications for housing, benefits, etc., coordinating with case management and psychiatry.
• Prepare psychosocial assessments.
• Conduct fieldwork (hospital visits, escorting clients to court, medical appointments, etc) as needed during normal business hours.
• Maintain client records and session notes in Salesforce.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

• Licensed Master social worker
• Familiar with LGBT+ youth issues, HIV+ populations, homelessness
• Comfortable working within a harm reduction, drop-in model
• Strong crisis intervention skills
• Open-minded and flexible
• Sunday availability required

SUPERVISION

Reports to the Founding Director. Clinical supervision provided (but not for LCSW licensure).

COMPENSATION

$55,000-$60,000

Reimbursement for health coverage up to $1,000/month
