'25-'26 PCEI Community Steward
The Community Steward serves to build community involvement by planning and facilitating events and activities related to environmental learning and stewardship with supervision and direction from the Project Manager and collaboration with all PCEI staff. The member will coordinate volunteer involvement on ongoing projects at the Palouse Nature Center and at local restoration project sites. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent verbal, written & graphic communication abilities; Experience organizing/coordinating groups/projects; Experience leading/teaching people of various ages; Demonstrated time management and problem-solving abilities; Demonstrated computer skills; Experience doing physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain; Able to lift at least 50 lbs; Experience w/hand tools & small machines; Knowledge of ecology, conservation, restoration, horticulture, land management, adult learning, education curriculum & instruction, or related fields. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident; Valid driver's license & good driving record; Must possess high school diploma/equivalent; Must commit to the full term of service; Must successfully pass fingerprint criminal history background check. Member Duties :
Member Activities: Lead by example-be a volunteer leader, "doing" on the ground service projects w/volunteers & collaborating w/PCEI staff to facilitate PCEI goals; Organize/setup community events & restoration outreach; Coordinate volunteers; Collaborate on planning, facilitating, & leading of service-learning events/activities for community, volunteers & school groups focused on conservation, stewardship, restoration and local ecology; Create content for program outreach and education; Conduct stewardship/restoration activities at PCEI's Nature Center & restoration project sites; Build knowledge/skills related to local ecology, stewardship, conservation & restoration practices; Maintain equipment/supplies used in service-learning projects.
