ENGEO
As an ENGEO Staff Engineer, you’ll be exposed to a wide variety of project scopes, types, and technical challenges. You will be mentored and supported to take on responsibility quickly and encouraged to build technical expertise, project management, and business development soft skills.
Starting at ENGEO as a staff engineer opened doors I didn’t even know existed. Every challenge has pushed me to grow, not just as an engineer, but as a person—and I’ve learned so much from the incredible team around me.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop geotechnical recommendations, plans, and technical specifications for design and construction of private and public projects.
Perform geotechnical analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation systems, ground improvement systems, earth-retaining structures, slopes, landslide mitigation solutions, and more.
Assess static and dynamic slope stability, ground settlement and deformation, and soil liquefaction using various geotechnical software applications.
Perform static and dynamic numerical modeling using finite-element and finite-difference methods as implemented in PLAXIS, FLAC, and other software applications.
Perform site-specific seismic-hazard and ground-response analyses.
Assist with the planning and execution of field investigations including logging borings and test pits, collecting samples, performing field tests, and observing and assisting with cone penetration and geophysical testing.
Develop laboratory testing plans, review laboratory test results, and develop representative soil properties for geotechnical analyses and design.
Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, letters, plans, and other documents.
Observe construction of foundations, ground improvement, shoring, grading operations, and other geotechnical construction.
Complete other field, analytical, and project administrative tasks with direction and support from peers and leadership.
Learn increasingly more complex, non-routine tasks with review and oversight from senior staff.
