Overview
Operations Specialist Instructor-Petaluma, CA at DirectViz Solutions, LLC (DVS). This role is based in Petaluma, CA and reports to the Site Lead. It is a non-exempt Service Contract Act (SCA) position. Responsibilities
Provide instruction in the field of land-based operations, including Search and Rescue and Command Center Operations, for U.S. Coast Guard Command Center missions. Manage classroom operations to achieve client-established quality objectives for instruction and classroom management. Includes but is not limited to
Quality instructor performance and appropriate level of class instruction based on knowledge assessment. Class discipline management and professional conduct in training activities. Maintain a regular class schedule and align with course curriculum outlines. Ensure a safe, comfortable training environment with adequate materials and address disruptive student behavior. Adhere to a zero tolerance policy on inappropriate language. Support the safe execution of training and ensure timely documentation and deliverables with high quality. Performance Measurement
Site Lead will establish performance metrics within the first 30 days. Achieve satisfactory or above on 80% of course evaluations after each course. Follow instructional materials 100% of the time and demonstrate competency on Coast Guard Instructor Feedback Form annually. Maintain no less than a 3 on 14 instructor competencies and demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with Government and Contract team members. Deliver tasks and work products in conformance to USCG Training System SOPs, timely, complete, and error-free upon final acceptance (90% of the time). Requirements
Two (2) years experience as a primary classroom instructor. Desired but not required: at least 5 years of rated/commissioned operational experience as a qualified CIC Watch Supervisor and Operations Unit. U.S. Coast Guard Controller or equivalent in the U.S. Navy. Three (3) years experience in the Command, Control, and Communications field. Experience handling sensitive and classified material and spaces; configuring voice circuits; radio operating procedures; Coast Guard mission areas; and policy and operations of Coast Guard C3 equipment; basic geo-location knowledge. Experience managing resources during SAR cases; working in a CIC environment; configuring and operating C4I systems; tracking radar contacts; producing situation reports and communications plans; providing shipping and navigation pictures. No security clearance required. Physical And Mental Qualifications
Maintain focus during scheduled hours; work at a desk with computer equipment as needed. Lift and move objects up to 15 pounds. Strong verbal and written communication in English; ability to work independently and in a team; good organizational and detail-oriented skills; ability to adapt to additional responsibilities.
