Corporate Controller
to build and create their own team as they relocate their accounting and finance functions to Tupelo from Colorado. Exxel Outdoors is an outdoor product manufacturer that owns several key outdoor brands. Position Summary
This position is responsible for monitoring, reviewing, and documenting all accounting transactions and preparing financial reports, managing cash, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The position also supervises the accounts receivable and accounts payable teams and assists management in evaluating projects and their impact on accounting functions, internal controls, and operating systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Reviews and approves financial statements, month-end, and year-end closing processes in a timely manner. Establishes and maintains internal controls and policies to comply with COSO framework and established best practices. Reviews and approves company financial statements for accuracy and clarity. Maintains, monitors, and enforces internal control guidelines. Manages efforts during internal and external auditing processes. Manages balance sheet account reconciliations. Liaises with the software development team regarding reporting and other system requirements. Verifies the integrity of systems and processes in place. Prepares required regulatory reporting and internal reports. Has experience with US GAAP. Manages tax reporting and compliance. Reviews the development and issuing of inventory cost factors. Maintains good communication channels within the company and with outside customers. Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies. Manages one or more areas: Financial Reporting, Budgets, Insurance Data, and Banking. Serves as Payroll Backup and Audit. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Supervises assigned staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Supervisory Responsibilities
Accounting, Financial Reporting & Budgets, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. Qualifications/Skills
BS or BA degree in Accounting, Finance, or related Business focus; CPA/Master's degree a plus. Seven plus years of Accounting/Finance Management experience in a corporate environment. Strong computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel, ERP system data (BC26/Dynamics NAV a plus). Able to efficiently use financial data mining tools, Power BI, and/or AI tools. Knowledge of standard cost and manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures. Experience in one or more areas: Credit/Collections, Financial Reporting, Budgets, Accounts Receivable, Insurance Management, and Banking. Experience in the consumer products industry. Proven analytical skills. Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a team environment. Initiative and ability to work and achieve objectives independently. Able to manage multiple tasks at one time and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving and process improvement skills. Solid people management skills, including performance management. Budget Responsibilities
Assists in the monthly brand financial review process and integrates identified action items. Work Environment
