We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Consulting Construction - Purchasing Assistant to join our team. This role is integral to the operations of our business and the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating purchasing activities and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage and maintain relationships with vendors, ensuring that all orders are delivered on time and within budget. 2. Coordinate with the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices, and resolve discrepancies as they arise. 3. Calculate costs of orders, compare invoices to purchase orders, and confirm that materials received are as ordered. 4. Conduct regular inventory checks, keeping track of stock levels and ordering supplies as necessary. 5. Provide excellent customer service, addressing any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner. 6. Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring the best possible terms for the company. 7. Meet strict deadlines and manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks as necessary. 8. Prepare and present regular reports on purchasing activities, tracking progress and highlighting any issues. 9. Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed, and conduct research to identify potential new suppliers. 10. Maintain accurate records of purchases and pricing, managing files and data entry tasks efficiently. 11. Coordinate deliveries, ensuring that materials arrive on time and in good condition. 12. Handle any discrepancies in orders or deliveries, liaising with suppliers to resolve issues.
Qualifications:
1. 2+ years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry. 2. Strong knowledge of vendor management and procurement processes. 3. Proven experience in accounting and financial management, with the ability to calculate costs and manage budgets effectively. 4. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. 5. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate suppliers and negotiate contracts effectively. 6. Experience in inventory management and order tracking. 7. Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle any issues or concerns in a professional manner. 8. Proficiency in data entry and file management, with strong attention to detail. 9. Excellent negotiation skills, with a proven track record of securing favorable terms for the company. 10. Strong research skills, with the ability to identify and evaluate potential new suppliers. 11. Experience in managing deliveries and resolving discrepancies in orders. 12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 13. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
