Overview

Project Engineer – Transportation role at MSA Professional Services. Location: St. Paul area; focused on transportation design, project management, and community impact. This position offers ownership in projects, mentorship, and opportunities across the Midwest and beyond. Responsibilities

Lead and manage transportation projects across all phases — from scoping and budgeting to scheduling, QA/QC, and delivery Cultivate client relationships through meetings, clear communication, and follow-through Design roadway, bridge, trail, and other multimodal transportation facilities Prepare construction documents, including detailed plans, specifications, and bid packages Navigate regulatory requirements, prepare technical reports, and secure permits Support proposal development by reviewing RFPs and contributing to compelling proposals Mentor and grow junior engineers and technicians Engage in construction oversight (bonus skill, not required) Communicate with the public through visuals and messaging for meetings Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required; Minnesota PE preferred 4+ years of mobility or transportation engineering experience MnDOT project experience is a strong plus Familiarity with Bentley OpenRoads Designer desired Experience or strong interest in project management and client engagement Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical concepts clearly Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a consulting environment Authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer; sponsorship not available Why MSA
