About the Role:
The Union Janitor position at the our Auburn Hills site plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all employees, visitors, and stakeholders within the Consumer Support Services industry. This role ensures that all assigned areas, including offices, restrooms, common spaces, and technical facilities, are thoroughly cleaned and well-maintained to meet union standards and organizational policies. The janitor will contribute to the overall operational efficiency by promptly addressing cleaning needs, managing waste disposal, and supporting health and safety protocols. Working as part of a unionized team, the janitor will collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to uphold high standards of cleanliness and respond effectively to any facility-related concerns. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work, preferably in a unionized environment. Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety standards. Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. Basic understanding of cleaning chemicals and equipment usage. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working within the Consumer Support Services industry or a similar corporate environment. Familiarity with union work rules and collective bargaining agreements. Certification in occupational safety or hazardous materials handling. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors. Demonstrated reliability and a strong work ethic. Responsibilities:
Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces throughout the facility. Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and other communal areas to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Empty trash receptacles and manage waste disposal in accordance with environmental and union guidelines. Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the appropriate personnel promptly. Follow established union protocols and safety procedures while operating cleaning equipment and handling cleaning chemicals. Assist with setup and cleanup for meetings, events, or special projects as required. Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and request replenishments to ensure uninterrupted service.
