Material Buyer

will be responsible for purchasing all materials required to support the production activities of RTD Tucson Operations and affiliated production sites. This includes managing procurement for the broader ION network, ensuring material availability within designated timeframes, and driving supplier collaboration. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams including leaders, scientists, suppliers, planners, and warehouse staff. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated, and committed to continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Operational Buying Execute daily, weekly, and monthly purchasing activities to meet operational goals. Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders for global suppliers. Track deliveries, resolve order-related issues, and ensure material availability. Manage supplier forecasts, anticipate production changes, and implement corrective actions. Review and verify invoices for accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely processing. Maintain accurate supplier data in ERP systems (SAP, iCollab) and generate procurement reports. Material Availability & Risk Management Monitor deliveries and escalate potential delays. Mitigate risks to prevent material shortages across the ION production network. Negotiate alternative solutions when products are unavailable. Collaborate with production planners, quality, and warehouse staff to ensure on-time availability. Supplier Management & Collaboration Support supplier review meetings with accurate data and background information. Drive initiatives to improve supplier efficiency, collaboration, and automation. Manage supplier access and resolve issues in iCollab. Conduct supplier visits to support improvement and problem-solving efforts. Teamwork & Cross-Functional Collaboration Work effectively with diverse teams across all organizational levels. Communicate proactively with stakeholders when challenges arise. Facilitate cross-team discussions to implement change orders and prevent disruptions. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to manage discrepant materials. Projects & Continuous Improvement (up to 30%) Contribute to cross-site initiatives and stakeholder-driven projects. Identify cost-saving opportunities, including quantity discounts and process improvements. Support continuous optimization of processes to improve quality and efficiency. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a dynamic environment. Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Ability to adapt quickly, work independently, and collaborate across teams. Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with SAP is a plus.
