Position Overview
The Equal Opportunity Specialist assists with the development, monitoring and coordination of equal opportunity responsibilities related to employee recruitment, hiring and employee retention. They will independently perform professional-level duties. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Duties may include: Consult and provide guidance to managers, search committees & college/unit Equal Opportunity Representatives and search coordinators Ensure fair & equitable recruitment/hiring processes through routine review & audit of employment actions Interpret, communicate & apply federal/state regulations/guidelines & university policy Design and deliver training & resource materials to faculty, staff and students Assist with compiling data for various reports Other duties as assigned Unit URL

Position Qualifications
Required Experience
Three years in human resources or recruitment and hiring compliance; a Bachelor's Degree in human resources or business may substitute for this experience Interpreting and applying policies, procedures and guidelines Discretionary decision making and independent problem solving Working with and creating/maintaining effective relationships with university and community members Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information Required Education
High School Diploma or equivalent Required Other

Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, business, human resource management, communication or education Demonstrated experience in three or more of the following areas: recruitment/hiring, classification/compensation, employee training and development, employee relations, equal opportunity or reasonable accommodation Demonstrated experience explaining and applying equal employment guidelines, principles and practices in employee recruitment, hiring and retention Demonstrated experience data exporting, analyzing data, developing reports and using the analysis to improve future operations Demonstrated experience developing and presenting training both in person and in virtual formats Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage relationships with multiple stakeholders with conflicting needs and timelines Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and related word processing, spreadsheet and database software Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
