for a
Medical Assistant
to join its team. This role supports physicians and nurses by performing delegated clinical and administrative tasks to ensure a safe, efficient, and family-centered patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Prepare patients for exams, record vitals, growth charts, and medical history details. Assist physicians and nurses during examinations and procedures. Perform phlebotomy, collect lab specimens, and conduct point-of-care testing (POCT) per CHOP standards. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician within CMA scope of practice. Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), prepare patients for x-rays and diagnostic tests. Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain quality control logs. Identify and report patient distress promptly; adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols. Administrative Duties
Greet patients and families using a patient-centered approach. Answer phones, schedule appointments, and arrange laboratory services. Update and maintain patient records in electronic and paper systems. Support billing, charge posting, and order entry as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, CMAC, or NRCMA)
through an approved certifying body-must be obtained within 3 months of hire if not already certified. MediClear Certification (or equivalent healthcare compliance credential) required. Knowledge of exam, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures, sterile techniques, and infection control. Ability to follow detailed instructions and communicate clearly and calmly with patients, families, and staff. Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) preferred.
