Responsibilities
Safely operate railcar movers to efficiently unload railcars.
Load and unload bulk trucks and railcars using a semi-automated system and manage a computer billing system.
Monitor product movements to and from storage tanks, ensuring efficient terminal operations.
Record essential operating data, including product quantities and gauge readings.
Provide courteous and accurate order-taking from customers over the phone.
Manually track and report inventory as needed.
Collaborate with other terminal operators on tasks such as repairs, maintenance, and equipment upkeep.
Act as Weigh Master to operate weighing devices.
Handle mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, and sweepers.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the cement plant, including restrooms.
Check and verify all incoming and outgoing tickets daily.
Adhere to all safety protocols as outlined by CalPortland and WorkSafe.
Communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and customers.
Perform other duties as assigned to support terminal operations.
Education
High school diploma or GED required.
Requirements/Qualifications
Physical ability to work in confined spaces, climb heights of 10 to 100 ft., and lift up to 75 lbs.
Ability to perform tasks requiring climbing, bending, lifting, and operating equipment.
Mechanical knowledge, including experience with preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
Proficient in using pneumatic and hand tools.
Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing.
Computer skills encompassing Excel, Word, SAP, and HMI systems.
Able to recognize safety indicators and warnings.
Willingness to work in various weather conditions and be exposed to noise levels that require hearing protection.
Self-directed worker who can operate independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver's license required.
Flexible availability for varying workdays and hours; normal hours are Monday - Friday from 2 AM to 2 PM with overtime as needed.
Preferred:
Skills in welding and cutting.
Experience in terminal or plant maintenance.
Familiarity with rail movement operations.
Conditions of Employment
The successful candidate must undergo a post-offer pre-employment physical exam, drug/alcohol screening, and background check. Some positions may require ongoing drug and alcohol testing as regulated by FMCSA.
