A Brief Overview Join our dynamic team as a Senior Environmental Claims Specialist, where you'll play a crucial role in managing complex commercial environmental claims. This opportunity allows for flexible work options including remote work from anywhere within the continental United States. You'll report to a manager based in New York City and focus on adjudicating both first and third-party claims, primarily complex storage tank claims, ensuring exceptional outcomes for our clients. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Adjudicate intricate commercial environmental claims, often exceeding the highest authority limits and significantly impacting departmental results. Conduct in-depth investigations and data analysis to resolve multifaceted issues. Provide insights on claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters. Analyze claims documentation to determine policy coverage applicability. Thoroughly investigate claims by conducting interviews with involved parties. Oversee claims in litigation and ensure efficient case resolution. Establish claim reserves with consideration of policy wording implications. Identify trends to help reduce claims frequency and severity through insightful data analysis. Coordinate expertise resources for effective case resolution. Prepare detailed reports to maintain comprehensive documentation. Utilize innovative solutions to achieve optimal financial outcomes. Engage in effective negotiations within set authority limits, employing various negotiation techniques. Manage mail and prioritize your workload efficiently. Communicate professionally via phone and written correspondence with insureds, claimants, and other involved parties. Demonstrate a strong commitment to effective claim management. Core Qualifications and Requirements Profound business acumen with a solid understanding of insurance operations and their profitability impact. A minimum of seven years’ experience adjudicating commercial environmental claims with exposures of $100,000 or more. Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; J.D. preferred. Alternatively, two insurance designations or four years of related experience may substitute for a degree. Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure within 120 days in applicable jurisdictions. Outstanding communication skills with strong relationship-building capabilities. Excellent evaluation, strategy, and negotiation skills. Customer-focused approach with effective time management and prioritization abilities. Ability to convey financial value across various levels of responsibility. Exhibit discretion and independent judgment in significant matters. Demonstrate integrity and the courage to act rightly each day. Results-oriented, solutions-focused, and globally minded. Aptitude for developing productive relationships with clients and colleagues. Curiosity and innovative thinking, breaking conventional boundaries.
