Job Overview We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Environmental Claims Specialist to enhance our team. This position can be based remotely within the continental United States or in one of our offices located in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Omaha, Richmond (VA), Rockwood (PA), or San Antonio. You will report to a manager based in New York City and will be responsible for adjudicating intricate first and third-party commercial environmental claims, particularly relating to storage tanks, delivering exceptional results for our clients. Main Responsibilities Adjudicate complex commercial environmental claims within your authority limits, significantly impacting departmental outcomes. Conduct thorough investigations, gather information, analyze data, and resolve issues efficiently. Report on claims trends and developments to senior management and underwriters. Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, and client instructions to assess coverage. Interview involved parties to investigate claims comprehensively. Manage claims in litigation to ensure timely resolutions. Determine claim reserves with careful consideration of policy wording implications. Identify loss drivers and trends through data analysis to minimize claims frequency and severity. Coordinate expertise resources to facilitate effective case resolutions. Prepare detailed documentation reports. Utilize creative problem-solving for optimal financial results. Negotiate cost-effective solutions within given authority limits. Efficiently manage correspondence and prioritize workload. Maintain professional communication with insureds, claimants, and other relevant parties. Qualifications and Requirements Solid business acumen and understanding of insurance operations and their profitability impacts. A minimum of seven years of experience handling commercial environmental claims with exposures of $100,000 or more. A bachelor's degree is required; a J.D. is preferred. Alternatively, two relevant insurance designations or additional experience can substitute for a degree. Licensed Claims Examiner or willingness to obtain licensure within 120 days. Exceptional communication, evaluation, and strategic skills. Strong negotiation abilities with a customer-focused mindset. Effective time management and workload prioritization skills. Ability to convey financial value to stakeholders at all levels, including executives. Exhibit discretion, judgment, and integrity in decision-making. Possess resilience and a solution-oriented attitude. Global perspective with adaptability and strong relationship-building skills. A curious and innovative approach to challenges. Proficient in MS Office and related software. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Committed to ongoing professional development.
